About Resurrection Lutheran
Church
The name Lutheran comes from the 16th-century church Reformer, Martin Luther. ‘Lutherans’ are happy to trace their teaching back to him because his sole aim was to confess the truth of the Gospel with complete faithfulness to the teachings of Holy Scripture. Lutherans, the third largest Christian confession in the world, have been proclaiming the Gospel in Britain for almost 500 years. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of England, of which Resurrection is a member, has congregations in England, Scotland, and Wales.
Resurrection Lutheran congregation began as a mission in Cambridge in the 1950s, holding services in a number of locations throughout the city. The present building was dedicated in 1977. The congregation is devoted to God’s revealed Word as the source and strength of the Christian confession and the only infallible authority of faith and life. We proclaim that Word gladly to all who will hear it, with fervent concern for the salvation of the world. And we gather each week to receive the gifts of life that Christ brings to us through Word and Sacrament in the holy liturgy.
